El Paso High School is the oldest high school in the state of Texas. It is located on the side of the Franklin Mountains. From there it overlooks the city and its boundary with Mexico. The El Paso High School opened in 1916 and is proudly nicknamed "The Lady on the Hill."

Many prominent citizens of this community have graduated from El Paso High School. This school has also won countless trophies, plaques and championships.

There have been 16 principals at the high the school. The current principal is Mr. John T. Roskosky.

The El Paso High School was designed by architects in such a way as to evoke memories of both Greece and Rome. There are also numerous other features that distinguish it from any other ordinary high school. For instance, the auditorium is located on an angle that is formed by the meeting of the two wings.

El Paso high school is also 4 stories tall. It has been made out of brick, tile and concrete. There is also a porch that is located at the front of the El Paso High School that overlooks this school's athletic field and stadium. It also leads into the school's auditorium. At the top of this porch's steps are 6 Terra Cotta pillars upon which the name of this school has been inscribed.

The school prides itself not only on academic achievements, but also athletic ones. Teamwork, sportsmanship, winning, losing and work ethics are taught through sport and athletics. El Paso high school believes that teaching a student all aspects of life is vastly important.
